Visit the striking Ruiterstandbeeld Corbulo

Corbulo is the founder of Forum Hadriani, the current Voorburg. For over fifty years, his equestrian statue has watched over the surroundings! In 1964, Voorburg-based artist Albert Termote was commissioned to immortalise the general, and Termote clearly based his sculpture on Roman equestrian statues from the first century AD.

The statue makes for a a nice stop during a walk around town and is a lovely, artistic reflection of a unique piece of history. You can find more information about Forum Hadriani and the Roman period of the region in Museum Swaensteyn!

Did you know that..

The Voorburg coat of arms is incorporated in the equestrian statue?

Neherpark Leidschendam

One of the most characteristic buildings in Leidschendam is definitely the Neherlaboratory. It’s now slightly hidden behind modern apartments, when viewed from the J.S. Bachlaan, but the complex still dominates the neighbourhood with its characteristic tower.
