From steam-powered drainage pump to museum Poldergemaal De Antagonist
At Poldergemaal De Antagonist, you experience a typical piece of Dutch history. The former drainage pump was built in 1882 for company De Ommedyck based on a design by J. P. Goldberg & Zonen. De Antagonist was built in neo-Renaissance style and was tasked with draining the Starrevaart and Damhouder polder. After its restoration at the start of this century, the drainage pump became a special museum where the history of the region really comes to life!
Leidschendam-Voorburg needs its pumps– learn all about it in De Antagonist! Also fun for children who are interested in the technology of the past! Want to see more of the surroundings? Near the Poldergemaal de Antagonist, there’s plenty of opportunities to walk, cycle and drive. So, this museum makes an ideal addition to fun a day out!
